[11] Standards // Pleasing God

Today’s chapters include: Psalm 11, 41, 71, 101, 131; Proverbs 11.

To set high standards for someone else,
and then not live up to them yourself,
is something that God truly hates.
But it pleases him when we apply the right standards
of measurement.

Proverbs 11:1, TPT

I love the way the Passion Translation words the beginning of the Proverbs chapter. It talks about our standards. The high standards we have set, we need to live that out for ourselves, especially if we expect it of others. The way TPT words it – made it jump out at me. What are we doing? Before we have set standards for others, how are we honestly living that out for our own lives? Or do we set expected standards without first applying it to ourselves?

Just something to consider tonight, as we seek to please the Lord Jesus Christ – our Beloved Savior! This one verse tells us a great deal about how we can please the Lord and treat others in a different – in a better way.

Happy Valentine’s Day, my friends!
